VIETNAM. Extreme monsoon weather throughout the year has challenged the main airport hub in Vietnam for years. But not any longer! With LED airfield ground lighting from ADB SAFEGATE the airport will enhance safety on its runways and taxiway during low visibility conditions. The Noi Bai 1A and 1B upgrade included the supply and commissioning of LED airfield ground lighting for the runways and parallel taxiway, constant current regulators (CCR) and an airfield lighting control and monitoring system (ALCMS) for the airport. The new LED airfield lighting solution will help Noi Bai International Airport enhance safety on its runway and taxiways during low visibility conditions, which is particularly challenging for the airport given the extreme monsoon weather Vietnam experiences throughout the year.

In addition to better performance in low visibility conditions, LED airfield lights are more sustainable thanks to their lower energy consumption, long life and lower maintenance costs. The long lifespan further impacts safety with fewer maintenance vehicles on active areas of the airfield. New stop bar controls will also enhance airside operational safety for the airport and help air traffic control better manage ground traffic to improve throughput.
