INNOVATION. With the newly released AiPRON Manager, ADB SAFEGATE continues its history of innovation for control and management on the apron on a cloud-ready web platform. AiPRON Manager provides a future-proof solution to increase efficiency and situational awareness to all stakeholders involved in the aircraft turn through automation of the aircraft docking process and digitalization.

Airport aprons are busy, congested areas where operators are met with challenges such as safety, severe weather and other disruptions while striving to maintain on-time arrivals and departures. The fewer disturbances or interruptions on the apron, the smoother traffic will flow system wide.

AiPRON Manager is the natural intelligent hub for controlling, merging, storing, analyzing and predicting for operational performance in an ever-changing environment. All operationally important data is collected in one view and presented in an understandable way, remotely or via a mobile device, allowing users to respond quickly when overseeing the operations.

“Without sensors and connectivity, there is no data. Without data there is no presentation and situational awareness, and without digitization, there is no analytics, augmented intelligence and automation.”

Previously known as SafeControl Apron Management, AiPRON Manager is now part of ADB SAFEGATE’s Intelligent AiPRON suite of software solutions bringing digitalization and intelligence to the apron. Together with AiPRON Connect and the other smart AiPRON applications, AiPRON Manager is a vital part of an airport’s digital transformation journey.

At airports where Safedock advanced visual docking guidance systems (A-VDGS) are installed at every stand, AiPRON Manager can use the A-VDGS as intelligent sensors to collect and distribute real-time gate/stand intelligence between airport, airline and air traffic control systems. AiPRON Manager can also provide monitoring and control of stands without Safedock A-VDGS for a holistic overview of the apron and traffic. Vital information is shared in support of A-CDM, increasing situational awareness and allowing the right decisions or corrective actions to ensure smooth and safe operations, while successfully managing changes in demand.

“AiPRON Manager is a web-based mobile solution offering de-centralized management of stands and apron operations with holistic user-interface possibilities for the complete manoeuvring area, including stand allocation situation and live traffic views,” said Niclas Svedberg, SAFEGATE’s Product Manager. “It creates a more proactive operation through constant control and monitoring of the Safedock A-VDGS and other connected equipment and systems, allowing stakeholders to know their precise status and receive alerts to potential issues before an aircraft arrives.”

The A-VDGS double as a Ramp Information Display System (RIDS), receiving critical updates from other integrated operational systems like A-CDM – via the AiPRON Manager – and displaying the information to flight and ground crews to help deliver on-time departures.

AiPRON Manager adds a number of new security features that leverage situational awareness and flight status information from various sources like Electronic Flight Strips (EFS), aircraft position data from surveillance systems and movements data from the Safedock A-VDGS, to enhance the safety and efficiency of apron operations.

As an intelligent Surveillance Gap Filler, AiPRON Manager uses the A-VDGS as sensors to track aircraft movement within the gate/stand area on arrival and during pushback. Position details are automatically sent to the surveillance service eliminating black spots and improving coverage. The system allows just in time docking to track inbound aircraft to the gate, enabling accurate actual in block times and automatic activation of the A-VDGS to avoid unauthorized planes entering the stand and save on resources and assets. In addition, the system can avoid tail clearance issues, send pushback violation alerts and act as quality assurance for the surveillance service as an independent assurance of transponder signal on identified pushbacks.

ADB SAFEGATE’s full Intelligent AiPRON portfolio includes five add-on modules, AiPRON 360, AiPRON Manager, AiPRON Resource, AiPRON Connect and AiPRON Finance.

Please remember to visit us at Passenger Terminal Expo 2023 in Amsterdam, March 14-16, where live demonstrations of AiPRON Manager and the Intelligent AiPRON will be available in stand #1218. Also don’t miss the conference presentation on the advantages of an intelligent apron, with ADB SAFEGATE’s Ilya Burkin and Pritpal Roopra, Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Systems, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. You will find the Intelligent Apron presentation under the Management and Operations, Airside track, Day 1, March 14.
