ADB SAFEGATE at ARKAD 2016

On November 16-17, ADB SAFEGATE is attending ARKAD, the largest career fair in southern Sweden. The annual fair, hosted by TLTH at Lund University attracts around 150 companies and 10,000 students. We are there to meet new talented engineers and maybe the next generation of ADB SAFEGATE experts.

Across the two days of the fair, ADB SAFEGATE has a booth that introduces students to who we are and what we do. Some of our resident experts are there to be on hand to answer any questions and get to know the students. We’ll also attend the Grand Banquet on the 16th, with the purpose to mingle with students interested in our technology and field of expertise in a more relaxed environment.

An important part of our participation is presenting the master’s thesis proposals, which means an opportunity for us as a company to meet up-and-coming talent and maybe potential colleagues.

To understand what the careers fair and the master’s thesis projects really mean to a company like ADB SAFEGATE, we talk to Pernilla Henriksson, R&D Director Scandinavia.

-“There are actually quite a few colleagues at ADB SAFEGATE who started here by doing their master’s thesis. So yes, both the event itself as a meeting place and the master’s thesis projects mean a lot to us. Engineers soon to graduate are trained to be thinking outside the box and they therefore challenge our habitual thought patterns, which is a good thing. The master thesis may involve new technology studies or looking into processes and/or proposing new design.”

How did it go last year? Did any of the master’s thesis turn into a “real project?”

-“They were real projects already from the beginning,” Pernilla says. “One of the projects, conducted by LTH students last year contributed to a new modular component design, already implemented in our airport luminaries which in turn generated a significant cost saving for both of us and our customers.”

This year we offer four different master’s thesis proposals. If you are interested, please contact us via thesis@adbsafegate.com.
