Lahore International Airport is now weather proofed. During an intense but short project that lasted only 12 months, the airport’s nominal capacity has been upgraded to handle 29 aircraft movements per hour, regardless of weather. ADB SAFEGATE worked closely together with the airport and Pakistan’s Civil Aviation authorities to increase airport performance and upgrade capacity to beat the challenging foggy winter climate. With a complete integrated system in operation, from the runway up to the tower, Lahore is now reaping benefits of increased capacity and is also able to accommodate diversions from neighboring airports.
For the first time since joining forces, ADB Safegate attended the annual Dubai Airport show at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) between May 9 and 12. More than 300 leading global companies and 7,500 visitors are expected to attend at the 16th edition of the Dubai Airport Show 2016 which will be held from May 9 to 11 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC). Abu Dhabi International Airport is undertaking one of its most ambitious expansion projects, where ADB Group has been selected as the main contractor. This partnership will enable the airport to be innovative, dynamic and improve traveler experience while maintaining world-class standards of airside safety and compliance at its existing terminals to create additional capacity for traffic growth. Using ADB’s SmartExpansion Path* methodology, the airfield will be redesigned after a survey of the existing airside infrastructure. ADB will also optimize the airport’s AGL infrastructure including lighting, power, control, and surface guidance systems.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif inspected and inaugurated the latest landing system installed on the runway that will enables flights landing at even 50 metre visibility. The first step of the airport expansion project has been completed in a record period of time and would not only ensure safe landing of planes in foggy weather and low visibility but also help save time for the airport, airlines and passengers.

Just in time for the upcoming foggy winter season when normally around 1000 flights are affected by diversions and delay, Lahore Allama Iqbal International Airport is being weather proofed in a project that will increase capacity by five times during low visibility.
