Lahore International Airport is now weather proofed. During an intense but short project that lasted only 12 months, the airport’s nominal capacity has been upgraded to handle 29 aircraft movements per hour, regardless of weather. ADB SAFEGATE worked closely together with the airport and Pakistan’s Civil Aviation authorities to increase airport performance and upgrade capacity to beat the challenging foggy winter climate. With a complete integrated system in operation, from the runway up to the tower, Lahore is now reaping benefits of increased capacity and is also able to accommodate diversions from neighboring airports.
Carbon neutrality, 40% energy savings versus international standards, 100% clean energy operations – the expectations in terms of environmental sustainability for the new international airport in Mexico City are very high. The challenge now is how to reach these targets while accommodating 50 million passengers per year and ever growing traffic – 125 million planned in the project’s second stage.
AIRPORT PERFORMANCE – VIDEO. In years to come, more and more people will chose air travel. Air traffic expansion and capacity crunch are the biggest challenges at many airports, threatening to jepordize efficiency and take a big bite of profitability. At ADB Safegate we use technology and our know-how to minimize these problems. We optimize airfield and gate infrastructure to enhanche the safety of aircraft guidance in all weather conditions at any time of the day. But why does it matter? This video reminds us.
By 2030, 60 million passengers per year are expected to travel through Toronto Pearson International Airport, the largest airport in Canada and the fastest growing in North America. To meet the demand, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is undergoing a multi-project construction program to leverage the existing airport infrastructure through maximizing and optimizing airport capacity. As part of the development project, ADB Safegate’s Canadian office recently completed an extensive airfield project at the airport.
ADB SAFEGATE was the Platinum sponsor of the Australian Airport Association’s Operations forum, OPS SWAP, in Brisbane which attracted 150 key operational stakeholders from Australia and New Zealand. The OPS SWAP is a forum about innovation and the optimization of airfield operations and this year ADB SAFEGATE displayed how our solutions contributes to Follow the Greens and A-CDM.
When an airport is situated on a dry lake bed, next to a volcano, in a country that sits at the junction of three tectonic plates and is intended to serve one of the world’s most populous cities well into the 2060s, sustainability is not just a nice to have, it’s essential. Despite having six runways and handling 125 million passengers a year, the new Mexico City airport will have minimal impact on its surroundings.
ADB Safegate and New Airport Insider conducted an informal poll of professionals from aviation-related sectors including consultants, airlines, regulators, airports and media as a follow up to the 2013 survey to understand the ‘pulse of the market’. We bring you insights into the concerns, priorities and the evolution of airports as the industry dynamics change.
Is your airport operating at the full capacity in all weather conditions? Do you believe it is as safe as possible with regard to runway operations, and foreign object debris (FOD) detection around gates? Would you like to find out how to increase safety, capacity and throughput in all weather conditions, but don’t know where to start? A CONOPS (Concept of Operations) can provide you with these answers. Continue reading
