Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) have chosen to continue their close cooperation with ADB SAFEGATE. The upcoming project will expand on their tower solutions with the installment of the DMAN Departure Management Solution, part of the SafeControl ATM Suite.
Many of today’s airports were constructed and put into operation during the 1960s and 1970s, in a period when jet aircraft were only just being introduced and air travel was booming. The usual way to increase capacity is to look into the construction of additional infrastructure. However, quite often the existing infrastructure is used in an inefficient way and contains hidden and unused capacity. Airports can increase capacity and reduce aircraft fuel burn through the efficient use of airfield ground lighting and advanced visual docking guidance systems.
Singapore Changi Airport has two runways with a complex taxiway system connecting to three passenger terminals and one cargo terminal. The airport operates a wide variety of aircraft with approximately 735 movements a day. In 2012 the airport had 51.2 million passengers and over 320,000 aircraft movements. The airports annual growth is in excess of 5% and a third runway is planned for the future. Continue reading
