Safedock also helps to enhance apron situational awareness and safety. The system is built on the experience and expertise of ADB SAFEGATE, which has supplied more than 8,000 docking systems worldwide.

ADB SAFEGATE is adding advanced new features to its Safedock visual docking guidance system. The enhanced system will help airports increase the number of aircraft their existing gates can process. Gate delays will be further reduced by enhanced monitoring and measuring of the turnaround process; keeping gates free of unauthorized vehicles; tracking and communicating the precise position of aircraft at the gate during arrival and on pushback; and through more powerful data logging of the docking and departure process.

Calgary International Airport (YYC), one of Canada’s busiest airports, opened a new state-of-the-art terminal on October 31, 2016. Passenger volumes have nearly doubled at YYC from 8 million in 2000 to over 15.4 million in 2015, and the new addition makes future growth possible. The new five-level facility which is primarily for U.S. and international-destined traffic, was the final phase of an over $2 billion expansion project that included a new runway which opened in 2014. With the completion of this expansion project, YYC is positioned for even more growth.
