Taoyuan airport

A mega renovation project is underway at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport since January 2013, which his is one of the world’s busiest airports and Taiwan’s busiest international airport. The project is an effort to modernize airport infrastructure as well as the airfield to make it safer and more reliable to support the rising volumes in air traffic at this major hub.

Operational since the 1970s, it is home to China Airlines and EVA AirOne, and serves Taipei and the northern parts of Taiwan. The project is an effort to modernize airport infrastructure as well as the airfield to make it safer and more reliable to support the rising volumes in air traffic at this major hub.

Integral to this project is ADB SAFEGATE’s turnkey approach which includes the complete redesign, supply, installation and maintenance of the airport’s entire Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) equipment. ADB SAFEGATE will manage the three-year project fully, refurbish the run- and taxiway lighting, and the airport’s electrical substations and new power supply systems. A key aspect of this project is the integration of the CAT III airfield lighting systems with a new remotely controlled individual lamp control and monitoring system, allowing for improved visibility and safety, as well as greater efficiency in maintenance operations.

Earlier this year, ADB SAFEGATE installed a backup runway preparing the airport for the coming phases of the works, while it replaces the existing AGL, first in the southern portion of the airfield and later in the northern portion in phases. The airport, in its modern avatar with a fully refurbished airfield by ADB SAFEGATE will be operational in 2015 and will be another successful reference of ADB SAFEGATE’s end-to-end approach which takes a holistic view of AGL Design, Products and Solutions, System Engineering and Services & Maintenance.
