Airfield 4.0 technologies that will revolutionize airfield operations” at the IESALC Technology Meeting

DETROIT. At the IESALC Technology Meeting in Detroit, Michigan ADB SAFEGATE´s Corey Stutz gave a live demonstration of how IoT technology can be leveraged within airfield lighting fixtures to help improve operations and maintenance efficiency. Thank you to all who visited us at both the demonstration and our ADB SAFEGATE stand at the event.

At the IESALC Technology Meeting in Detroit, Michigan, ADB SAFEGATE’s Corey Stutz presented “Airfield 4.0 technologies that will revolutionize airfield operations” where he gave an appreciated live and interactive demonstration of how IoT technology can be leveraged within airfield lighting fixtures to help improve operations and maintenance efficiency.

Fundamental to ADB SAFEGATE’s Airfield 4.0 concept is the addition of built-in sensors to airfield assets or lights, coupled with a right-sized communication medium and the ability to wirelessly stream telemetry and status monitoring to the cloud. At the live demo an IoT-enabled AXON taxiway light with sensors was used, and a volunteer hit the light to demonstrate the detection of movement and vibration of the light.  In addition, loss of pressure was demonstrated.

AXON EQ sensing lights are integrated with the newly released LINC 360, a high-bandwidth two-way communication system that facilitates predictive airfield operations. The data generated by the fixtures will be streamed to the cloud via our innovative LINC Node gateway. With data from the cloud, airports can check the status of assets on multiple devices in real-time to support immediate decision-making. These smart lights also flag maintenance and service needs and provide a higher level of control under challenging conditions like low visibility.
