DUBAI AIRSHOW. Globally, the ATM industry has been struggling on account of reduced air traffic that has delayed investments in technology and systems over the last 18 months. The Middle East region has been no exception with a 60% reduction in air traffic in 2020 compared to 2019. However certain countries like the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have used this time to focus on shaping ATM and airside operations automation, optimization and collaboration through extensive adoption of technology and systems. Sébastien Jodeau, ADB SAFEGATE´s Managing Director ATM & Airport Systems is being interviewed pre Dubai Airshow about the Middle East ATC industry.
Just like the rest of the world, the Middle East region has been struggling on account of reduced air traffic during the pandemic. However certain countries like the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have used this time to focus on shaping ATM and airside operations automation, optimization and collaboration through extensive adoption of technology and systems. A mix of global and regional events and initiatives have been contributing factor and we are optimistic that air traffic will make a strong recovery within the region in the coming quarters and thus remain positive on our outlook for the ATM industry in the Middle East.
In an executive interview pre the upcoming Dubai Airshow, ADB SAFEGATE´s Sébastien Jodeau explains how the pandemic impacted the air traffic management industry in the Middle East, how the industry players quickly adapted technology to cater to the changing needs in the market and in which areas and geographies he sees strongest potential for growth.
