Huge opportunities in the growing African aviation market

VIDEO INTERVIEW. The African market is very interesting in the sense that the air traffic is expected to double in the next 20 years. Africa accounts for 15 percent of the world population but only two percent of the global air traffic. For many international airlines, high profit and stable passenger growth make Africa an attractive market. And now, with traffic is set to double in the coming years, Africa will not only attract more stakeholders, airlines, investors and financiers but also the whole business world.

ADB SAFEGATE helps reduce congestion at Bole International Airport

ADB SAFEGATE helps reduce congestion at Bole International Airport

ADDIS ABABA. Ethiopia not only plays a strategic role for Africa’s aviation sector, but because of its location, it serves as a cross road between Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. Addis Ababa Bole Airport is important to Ethiopia’s industry sector, mainly for the export of perishable goods, for which Bole Airport has improved its cargo infrastructure, and also increasingly for tourism. Both are main pillars for the fast growing economy of Ethiopia. Ethiopia has big plans for its airports. And, it is no secret that the land-locked Ethiopia has big plans to turn itself into Africa’s chief aviation hub.

Towards a Green and Sustainable Future with Aéroports de Paris

green wing

With the Sustainable Innovation Forum COP21, hosted in Paris, just around the corner, Safegate Group is focusing on leaders in green business practices in the airport industry. Just like any other business, airports have to do their part to decrease their environmental impact. Aviation produces 2% of global CO2 emissions and airports are central actors in balancing the growing demand for air transportation and concerns of local communities on this issue. Aéroports de Paris (ADP) qualifies in more ways than one as a model airport for its commitment to sustainable and environmentally conscious business practices. Safegate Group’s Alexander Herring sat down with Didier Hamon, the General Secretary of ADP, to get insight into ADP’s success and future plans in environmental and sustainable development.
