ROME. A lot is happening at Rome-Fiumicino International Airport “Leonardo Da Vinci” where Aeroporti di Roma, has entrusted ADB SAFEGATE with a number of demanding and technologically complex projects. From our offices, located in the heart of the airport, we have worked full steam on the finalization of the SafeControl Apron Management (SAM) upgrade project, one of the first such upgrades in Europe.
Leonardo da Vinci Airport, also known as Rome-Fiumicino International Airport, is the busiest airport in Italy. For four consecutive years (2017-2020), Leonardo da Vinci Airport has won the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Airports Council International award among European airports with more than 40 million passengers a year, and for three times in a row (from 2018 to 2020) the airport has won the Best Airport Award among European Airports with more than 25 million passengers a year. PRESS RELEASE. ADB SAFEGATE announces the appointment of Joe Pokoj to Chief Operating Officer of its global organization and Executive Vice President of its airfield business line. He will also retain his current role as CEO Americas, a position he has held since 2013. Pokoj has over 30 years’ experience with the company and is an airfield lighting industry veteran.

TRAINING ACADEMY. Outstanding technical and hands-on training for airport staff are needed to ensure the level of safety required for airside operations. At the beginning of the pandemic, we were wondering how to supervise hands-on practice remotely, how to make sure every participant understood and how to evaluate the new capabilities of the delegates we train. Wrocław Airport’s airfield maintenance team started to use ADB SAFEGATE’s Digital Airside Location-based Inspection and Service solution (ALIS) to improve scheduling and tracking of airside maintenance. Michał Zwierzyk, Manager Chief Power Engineer at Wrocław Airport shares his team’s experience of using our new cloud-based maintenance tool.
Soon, we will have the pleasure to resume with in-person training sessions in our factories and offices. We are looking forward to welcoming back our customers to our facilities, but we can’t just train the way we did before the pandemic. Why? Because it taught us the advantages of online learning and showed us new, hybrid ways to train that combine the best of in-person and online training.
