Anticipating an increase in air traffic, Singapore’s Changi Airport, which currently operates with two runways, plans to add a third runway as part of the Changi East Development Project. The airport will install new airfield specialized systems including airfield lighting, surveillance and detection equipment for the third runway and ADB Safegate has been chosen to supply Changi Airport with the latest LED airfield lighting equipment for this purpose.
Perth Airport is one of the most isolated airports in the world. Although the airport only has around 10 days with Low Visibility Operations (LVO) per year, the diversions are costly for airlines and inconvenient for passengers. ADB SAFEGATE is working together with Perth Airport, Airservices and West Coast Civil to weather proof the airport through an upgrade of its lighting infrastructure which will allow for Category III landings and make diversions a thing of the past.
Tom Duffy, from the ADB Safegate Americas’ team has been elected to serve on the Airports Council International World Business Partners Advisory Board. His term began on July 1 and runs through the end of 2018.
On June 7-8 ADB Safegate attended the British Irish Airports Expo in Birmingham, U.K. This was the first time the event has been held, and attracting 1,500 attendees across the two days from many regions. For ADB Safegate, Regardt Willer, General Manager for the U.K. market, the main subject for the event was to reconnect with our customers in this key market, and now as one brand remind them that we are a local organisation with local customers.
Nearly 20 airports in Europe have embraced A-CDM to boost efficiency and collaboration with airlines and other stakeholders. This two-part series provides insight on A-CDM’s evolution and reports on the positive impact it is having at large and small airports. Part 1 introduces A-CDM and discusses its rise in Europe. Part 2 covers several of the key outcomes that airports have reported.
The Pilot Common Project (PCP), defined by SESAR in order to allow large airports in Europe to handle increasing air traffic, will require certain functionalities of traditional Air Traffic Management systems. Several of the new functionalities are a result of integration and how this should be fulfilled can be interpreted differently. Choosing an Advanced Visual Docking Guidance System (A-VDGS) to support the requirement for future operational needs is an imperative. In this article we highlight some of the important functionalities.
What does ADB Safegate offer its customers? It’s a simple question, but bringing together two market-leading portfolios and sets of expertise is no simple task. Much work has gone into developing a coherent description of ADB Safegate’s total capabilities. We interview Jesper Svensson, who leads the Airport Performance Team, to find out his thoughts about how ADB Safegate can help airports to understand how they can get more out of their existing infrastructure.
Lahore International Airport is now weather proofed. During an intense but short project that lasted only 12 months, the airport’s nominal capacity has been upgraded to handle 29 aircraft movements per hour, regardless of weather. ADB SAFEGATE worked closely together with the airport and Pakistan’s Civil Aviation authorities to increase airport performance and upgrade capacity to beat the challenging foggy winter climate. With a complete integrated system in operation, from the runway up to the tower, Lahore is now reaping benefits of increased capacity and is also able to accommodate diversions from neighboring airports.
Carbon neutrality, 40% energy savings versus international standards, 100% clean energy operations – the expectations in terms of environmental sustainability for the new international airport in Mexico City are very high. The challenge now is how to reach these targets while accommodating 50 million passengers per year and ever growing traffic – 125 million planned in the project’s second stage.
AIRPORT PERFORMANCE – VIDEO. In years to come, more and more people will chose air travel. Air traffic expansion and capacity crunch are the biggest challenges at many airports, threatening to jepordize efficiency and take a big bite of profitability. At ADB Safegate we use technology and our know-how to minimize these problems. We optimize airfield and gate infrastructure to enhanche the safety of aircraft guidance in all weather conditions at any time of the day. But why does it matter? This video reminds us.
