LAHORE, PAKISTAN. Just in time for the upcoming foggy winter season when normally around 1000 flights are affected by diversions and delay, Lahore Allama Iqbal International Airport is being weather proofed in a project that will increase capacity by five times during low visibility. The project will be done in only 12 months’ time, and key to the fast execution is a holistic view on the airport’s expansion, and an airport knowledgeable enough to think outside the box.
With rising air traffic, airports around the world all share the same challenge: to increase throughput while still maintaining safety and staying cost efficient. BELGIUM. Runway Safety is a top priority for everyone in aviation but still a significant challenge for all parties. Runway incursions happen every day around the world and every single one is one too many. Safegate Group’s ATM advisor, Bengt Collin, interviewed his former colleague at Eurocontrol in Brussels, about the important and challenging job to coordinate safety improvements within Eurocontrol’s member states.
On November 11-12, ADB SAFEGATE will be participating in ARKAD, the largest careers fair in southern Sweden. Hosted by Lund University (LTH), this will be the third time Safegate has exhibited at the annual fair, which attracts around 150 companies and 10,000 students. In an interview with ADBSAFEGATE Reporter, ADB SAFEGATE Product Specialist, Malin Reinholds, a recent graduate from LTH, explained that ADB SAFEGATE values participation in fairs of this nature as they highlight the talent of the next generation of potential ADB SAFEGATE experts.
The movement of aircraft and authorised vehicles around the taxiways can be a complex affair, particularly during peak periods, low visibility and at night. Air Traffic Controllers balance keeping voice communications simple and concise with the need to ensure flight crews and vehicle drivers have a clear and unambiguous understanding of their clearances.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) recently completed two massive projects to relight and remark its airfield. Almost all of the work occurred simultaneously, from March 2014 to July 2015. Together, the improvements cost the airport about $34 million – with no outside funding.
