Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) have chosen to continue their close cooperation with ADB SAFEGATE. The upcoming project will expand on their tower solutions with the installment of the DMAN Departure Management Solution, part of the SafeControl ATM Suite.
SULTANATE OF OMAN. Safegate Group was successfully awarded prestigious international airport projects in Oman; Salalah International Airport and the largest airport in the Sultanate, Muscat International Airport. The $1.8 billion development project is the largest project ever to be undertaken in Oman’s history and was initiated by the government to improve the Sultanate’s airport capacity to meet expected tourism expansion.
In recent years, Niagara District Airport (YCM) had experienced annual operational deficits of $100,000 to $150,000. While the shortfalls were covered by municipal grants to the tune of $250,000 a year, the commission’s goal was to make the airport self-supporting so the grants would no longer be needed or could be used to fund capital improvements. The commission concluded that the airport would need to make extensive infrastructure improvements to attract business and increase traffic.
SALALAH, OMAN. ADB SAFEGATE recently executed flight checks as the final step in commissioning the new runway at Salalah International Airport, the second largest airport in the Sultanate of Oman.
Sharjah International Airport opened a new Dh500 million runway on Wednesday, 22 October. ADB SAFEGATE was key in the implementation of this project, delivering turnkey project management including design, supply, installation, commissioning and training. Safegate Group lighting, control systems and Instrument Landing System (ILS) navigation-aids were installed. The runway is now equipped to receive large aircraft and new generations of aircraft, including the Boeing 747-800, Airbus A380, and freight planes such as the AN124 and AN225. The runway spans 4,060 meters and is 60 meters wide. It runs parallel to the former runway and includes two taxiways and eight connecting corridors.
